Description

ABOUT: Noelia Ricci is a wine project founded in 2010 on a historically rich family estate in Emila Romagna. Acquired in 1941 by military commander Giuseppe Ricci, his daughter Noelia was the first to see the true potential of growing grapes in the surrounding slopes. Upon Ricci’s death she planted some Sangiovese and Trebbiano and built a winery. Fast forward to today and it’s Noelia’s grandson Marco Cirese who is at the wheel and steering the property in a great direction. He has meticulously chosen the best hectares of the 140 hectare property to plant vines (currently 9 hectares) and has chosen the low intervention route and organic conversion is under way. Their goal is to make wines with fine structure while still being approachable. They succeed.

TASTE:The young Tebbiano grapes in this bottle grow in clay and limestone rich soils in Fiumana di Predappio. Youthful and fresh aromas and flavors of oranges, peaches and apricots are followed closely by brine, mint and lavender. The weight, alcohol and acidity levels are all medium, with a nice, medium+ length finish. Not overly complex but a wonderfully gastronomic wine. Underline fresh. So glad this Trebbiano came our way, it’s not the most common grape variety in our market. Happy to know it a little better now.

PAIR: Gnocco Fritto, risotto with Parmesan, tempura vegetables, spicy Thai dishes, Inari, vegetable Cappelletti in Brodo, and a fried egg sandwich.
