ABOUT: Probably one of the most recognizable French labels in my domestic market, 12th generation winemaker Olivier Humbrecht is not only a Master of Wine but a key figure in the biodynamic/non-interventionist movement. He stakes claim to 40 hectares throughout Alsace with several grand cru sites.

TASTE: Prodigious aromas billow out of this wine, dried citrus, honeydew melon, pineapple and grapefruit, with thyme-like herbaceousness and unctuous lifted white flower aromas. The palate follows a similar path, sweet pear with herbs and dried fruits, ginger and orange. Delicately sweet with deftly balanced acidity, full fruits forward with a lengthy finish. Highly complex, tons of room for development, it's no wonder Olivier Humbrecht is considered a bit of a genius by the current wine authorities.

PAIR: Smoked goat's and sheep's milk cheese, garlic, ginger, onion tarts, all variety of egg preparations but perfect with an omelet.
