Description

ABOUT: Les Clos Perdus translates to “lost vineyards”, and back in 2003 two guys stumbled upon just that in their little village Peyriac de Mer in the Languedoc. Through slow accumulation Paul Old and Hugo Stewart have acquired 20 hectares throughout the region, some of the finest within the Corbieres AOC. Demeter certified biodynamic since 2014, these are serious wines made by a team of good folks committed to good husbandry and producing terrior and vintage specific wines. No apologies.

TASTE: The 2018 Cuvee 161 is a blend of Carignan, Grenache and Mourvedre. Youthful flavors and aromas of blackberries and raspberries, with dark chocolate, orange peel, fennel and damp potting soil chiming in. The body and alcohol are both in the medium to medium+ range, with medium+ acidity and low tannins. A brawny, wild wine that’s both food friendly and perfectly fine by it’s own damn self.

PAIR: Vegetarian cassoulet, Camargue rice with goat cheese, red apricots, Roquefort, Perlardon, figs, and almonds.
