Description

ABOUT: Dirler-Cade is the merging of two Alsatian winemaking families, the marriage of 5th generation Jean Dirler to Ludivine Cade, combining vineyards lands now totaling 18 hectares in the small village of Bergholtz. 42% of their come from the Grand Cru vineyards Saering, Spiegel, Kessler, and Kitterle and the majority of their holdings are planted to Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Gris. Large oak fudres and stainless steel are used during vinification and the vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 1998 and certified 2007.Check out this article about Domaine Dirler-Cade by Karen Ulrich.

TASTE: The 2012 Pinot Blanc Reserve is from 3 hectares within the Kessler and Spiegel Grand Crus. Lifted aromas of white flowers and peaches, apricots and lemon peel laced into a rich, full body with agreeable density. Dry, but with a slightly sweet edge and balanced acidity make for an excellent pairing with Asian cuisine as well as the traditionally rich dishes of Alsace.

PAIR: Bahn Xeo with leeks, mushrooms, and garlic, Baba ganoush, soy and ginger roasted potatoes, and a Muenster and avocado grilled cheese sandwich.
