ABOUT: Les Clos Perdus translates to “lost vineyards”, and back in 2003 two guys stumbled upon just that in their little village Peyriac de Mer in the Languedoc. Through slow accumulation Paul Old and Hugo Stewart have acquired 20 hectares throughout the region, some of the finest within the Corbieres AOC. Demeter certified biodynamic since 2014, these are serious wines made by a team of good folks committed to good husbandry and producing terrior and vintage specific wines. No apologies.

TASTE: Cuvee 161 is a blend of 50% Carignan, 35% Grenache and 15% Mourvedre. It’s packed with herbs and spices, youthful and raw black and red fruit flavors and aromas, lifted cassis and just dancing in general. Medium+ body and alcohol, low-ish tannins and high-ish acid, long-ish finish-ish. Kind of a brawny, wild wine that’s both friendly and thought provoking at the same time.

PAIR: Vegetarian cassoulet, Camargue rice, red apricots, Roquefort, Perlardon, figs, and almonds.
