ABOUT: If this is your first time laying eyes on the word Granato or Teroldego, you're in for a treat. A local distributor introduced me to the Foradori red wine made from this northern Italy indigenous grape, and my doors were squarely blown off. Almost extinct and with huge potential, Teroldego is as approachable as it is easily pleasant. Please click this Dressner link for her story, I could not improve on it. And check out pictures of her vineyard, it sits comfortably in the shadow of the dolomites, literally. It looks idyllic. And biodynamic practices are in play. Asimov was charmed by her wines as well.

TASTE: Granato by Foradori is 100% Teroldego and put the renowned winemaker Elizabetta Foradori on the map. She’s been making this wine since 1986 and pulls its fruit from 60-80 year old vines from the Campo Rotaliano vineyard, lapping up the sun on a gravel plain. Rousing aromas and flavors of blackberry, cherry, fennel, thyme and potting soil. Concentrated and dense with a tannic structure that will assist long term development. Supremely high quality with a long finish. It’s hard to think of another wine to suggest when a customer asks for something incredible from Italy.

PAIR: Trapanese pesto, arancini, Impossible burger, tacos, pesto di pistacchi, olive tapenade, and Mexican eggplant casserole.
