ABOUT: On the right bank of the Cher river in the Touraine AOC region of the Loire Valley sits 10 hectares of vines tended by third generation winemaker Anne Cecile Roy of Domaine Des Roy. Her father was the first to introduce organic winemaking methods and daughter Anne took the torch and ran with biodynamics. The wines from this region have a lot of energy and character thanks to the clay and flint based soils, moderate weather (not too continental nor too maritime), and proximity to water. Touraine white and red wines are impossibly perfect with food and the lucky inhabitants of Tours are spoiled with their local produce.

TASTE: This is a serious Sauvignon Blanc and well done in a tough vintage. Steely and fresh with flavors and aromas of grass and herbs, limes, lemons and green apples. The body and alcohol are both smack dab in the middle with a nice, green, lifted shot of acidity. So good you’d think it was a Sancerre. Another perfect wine from Domaine des Roy for the dinner table.

PAIR: Grilled asparagus with parmesan, fried artichokes, Szechuan green beans, fried spring rolls, and seared Zucchini and Ricotta salad.
