Description

ABOUT: Brooks winery was founded in 1998 in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA in Oregon by the late Jimi Brooks. He understood that the ideal conditions for top flight Pinot Noir are available in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, thanks to the Pacific breezes allowed to flow east through the Van Duzer Corridor, a gap in the coastal range mountains. This is the most desired climate for Pinot Noir vines, they like the heat during the day, using the time to build their sugars, then a cooled-down evening which retains acidity and all of their personal charm. The folks at Brooks harness their natural endowment masterfully, and practice biodynamics, furthering the natural transparencies of their wines.

TASTE:Pinot Blanc is forever undervalued in our opinion, finding itself situated between Chardonnay and Riesling, sharper than Chard and softer than Reis. We like it right where it is and this Brooks is a stellar example from Oregon. And since it’s mostly ignored by producers the price is always friendly for the consumer. Brooks Pinot Blanc is sunny and bright with aromas and flavors of grapefruit, apples and lemons + peels, with a steely, salty edge. The body size and alcohol content are comfortable mediums while the acid is one ratchet up from the midline. This shot of acid is persistent through a long finish. Genuinely refreshing and pairs well with almost everything we like to eat daily. Maybe not cereal but everything else.

PAIR: Singapore rice, Tofu curry, Vietnamese fried rice cake, Bahn It Tran Chay, deep fried king trumpet mushrooms, and Thai fresh spring rolls.
