ABOUT: The wellspring of Antica Terra’s wine is a rocky hillside in Eola-Amity Hills in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. It’s been proven that grapes benefit from a bit of struggle in their upbringing and this gnarly vineyard of varied soils and topography provide many obstacles that keeps winemaker Maggie Harrison on her toes. No easy task making wines here, but Maggie’s attention to detail shine bright in these stellar Pinot Noirs. And on a personal note, Antica Terra has some of the finest label design in the wine game. Definitely one of the elite wines of the Willamette Valley with much to look forward to in the future.

TASTE: Antica Terra Antikythera. The name of this wine gets stuck in my mouth, slows my brain, sends me back to elementary school, you know, sounding things out...once past that, the wine is an absolute knock out. 100% Pinot Noir with flavors and aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, cedar, smoke and fine, almost sandy tannins. Long finish and a lot of development ahead. This wine is like a celebration of ripe, red fruit, the absolute star of the show. So good. Antica Terra deserves the attention it gets and seems to be one of the best examples of what the Willamette Valley has to offer. Get it while it's below $200 a bottle.

PAIR: Butternut and mushroom risotto, Thanksgiving stuffing with dried fruits, borscht, fried eggplant, and an onion tart. All at once.
