ABOUT:Analemma is newish producer here in the Pacific Northwest. They started out by leasing the Atavus vineyard on the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge making wines from a variety of vineyards in that general area. Most recently they have started making wines from the vineyard that surrounds they’re winery called Mosier Hills and the results are sublime. Organics and biodynamics are the methods employed by Kris Fade and Steve Thompson, the wife and husband winemaking team, and the results are compelling. Stay tuned to Analemma.

TASTE: I treated the family and cracked a bottle of this with our enchilada dinner. Right choice. This blend of Tempranillo and Syrah had youthful aromas and flavors of strawberries and raspberries, herbs like thyme, sage, oregano with some black pepper and licorice and salty salinity. The body is medium and the tannins are quiet. The acidity is pointed upward and refreshes. The excellent balance of this wine leads me to believe the winemakers are good tasters. It’s graceful and delicious and will develop nicely for another 10 years.

PAIR: Bean and cheese enchiladas packed with garlic, rice pilaf with dried fruits and almonds, and roasted root vegetables.
